Come Follow Me: The Family Proclamation
I have a pretty big family . . . about 100 billion members and counting. Coincidentally, that is the estimate of people who have ever lived on the Earth. So what I am basically saying is that we are all brothers and sisters in a way. In the Family A Proclamation to The World it says, ”All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny.” We are all one big family with Heavenly Parents who love us and can’t wait to see us again! They help us with our divine nature and destiny. Just like our Heavenly Parents, we have people in our lives that help and influence us so we can start on the path of fulfilling our destiny.
The Family Proclamation also talks about how families teach “their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another…” When I think about loving and serving each other I think about how I treat my own brothers. For example, I try to remind myself often that people I might get irritated at or mad at are my family, and I love my family! I would forgive my brothers for anything, which means being loving and kind to everyone is key (plus it gives you the best feeling). Having and building happy relationships is really important in our lives. The Family Proclamation says that “Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.” I can testify that this is true. I have had so many family and personal blessings because of the gospel. One blessing is that I get to be with my family for eternity because my family and I are sealed to each other in the temple. I am so grateful to know that I get to be with my family forever and because of the blessings I have been able to receive through my family,
I am so excited to have my own family that I get to be with for eternity! Families are such an amazing gift that we have been given and through the gospel, our families can be even stronger. I am so grateful for all of my family, even the ones I haven’t met yet!
