I know Sophie as a loyal friend, a beautiful dancer and the kind of person who does what is right even if other people criticize her. She also has the best sense of humor around.
When Sophie wanted to spend three months in India helping the leprosy affected at Rising Star Outreach, she knew she needed a creative way to earn funds. With several AP classes, dance team and all the busyness of her senior year in high school, she couldn’t get a regular job. Instead, Sophie and a friend made and sold boutonnieres for school dances and saved all the money for service trips.
I think you’ll love this interview where Sophie talks about creating her own floral business, the truth about leprosy and serving in India. There’s been a fair amount of negative press about service trips, but Sophie explains how we really can make a difference.
Also, if you want to learn how to make boutonnieres and wrist corsages yourself, please join us at the Ruby Girl Retreat on August 12th.
If you’d like to help Rising Star Outreach and can’t quite make it to India, you can donate, sponsor a child and/or volunteer at the Salt Lake City Lantern Festival on August 20th benefiting Rising Star Outreach.
Doesn’t it look like fun?! Be sure to watch the beautiful video too.
