Peace From Your Patriarchal Blessing

Recently, I received my patriarchal blessing. It was a very special, spiritual experience, and I would like to share a little bit about it with you.

In preparation for receiving my patriarchal blessing, I learned more about what these special blessings entail. In the words of President James E. Faust, “A patriarchal blessing from an ordained patriarch can give us a star to follow, which is a personal revelation from God to each individual.”

When the day arrived for my patriarchal blessing, I went with my parents to the stake patriarch’s house. He put his hands upon my head to give me a blessing, and tears began rolling down my face. I knew his words were inspired. Everything faded away except for his voice, and I listened intently to hear the words Heavenly Father wanted me to hear about my life and what He has in store for me. The Spirit was so strong, and I truly felt that the patriarch’s words were specific to me. I was filled with peace and Heavenly Father’s love for me.

President Thomas S. Monson said, “A patriarchal blessing literally contains chapters from your book of eternal possibilities…[it] is your passport to peace in this life. It is a Liahona of light to guide you unerringly to your heavenly home.” How amazing is it that Heavenly Father loves His children enough to give us the opportunity to learn about our eternal potential! My blessing is now a treasured possession, and I am very grateful for it.  I know that as I read my patriarchal blessing often, I will receive guidance and comfort. As you read your own blessing, you will be filled with peace too.

Have you received your patriarchal blessing? If so, I encourage you to read it and reflect on the experience of receiving it. If you haven’t received your blessing, I hope you will soon!

How has your patriarchal blessing helped you?
