Ask of God

With a new year comes a new mutual theme. This years theme comes from James 1:5-6, which says:

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”

What does this mean? Here are a few things that we can learn from these scriptures.

  1. We have communication with God. We can ask him questions. Carol F. McConkie said that prayer is a gift from God.
  2. Upbraid- this means to reproach. God will not criticize or laugh at us for asking for help.
  3. We must have unwavering faith. If we have faith, God can give us answers.
  4. God is all-knowing. He can help us.

Prayer is a powerful thing. Christ prayed while in the Garden of Gethsemane and he taught his disciples to pray always. Let us always have a prayer in our heart. Let us be humble enough to ask God for help. We must also remember that even if we are faithful, sometimes our answers come later. They will come though.

How can you make your prayers more meaningful this year?

I am 19 years old. I would describe myself as a spunky and happy person. I love to read, draw, play the piano, and be outside. I love music, especially good ole classic rock. You can't go wrong with a saxophone and guitar solo in one song (i am looking at you Pink Floyd).
